First let me tell you about Co Merge.... it is a pretty amazing work space!!! There are conference rooms for private meetings and plenty of work space for if you just need some place to work on projects of your own.
Ok back to Startup Wknd...
It started on Friday Night and ended on Sunday Night. Friday Night was Pitch Night, everyone who wanted to pitch an idea had 1 minuet to give a summary of what their idea was about and who they needed to help. After the ideas were pitched, everyone was able to vote for their favorite ideas, then teams were formed. There were so many interesting ideas, I couldn't decide who to vote for.
Let me tell you that Startup Weekend was not just about Entrepreneurs and working hard... taking a break and eating is important right!!!! The Food was great and there was plenty to snack on during the event. There was also Wine and cocktails as well, yes it was that kind of party!!! The First night I had this amazing Veggie burger (I'm not a big meat eater) and Sunday night there was Greek and Mexican food. So Yummy!!! There were Cupcakes from Cupcake Squared and Cookies from The Secret Cookie Service (Shhhh don't tell anyone!!!)
Sunday Night each final group presented their idea one last time. Many of the teams had a website up and running, apps, and a model to show. The judges gave feedback and asked questions, then the top 3 teams were picked. Honestly I was amazed by what was presented, the teams really put thought into what they wanted to achieve and they all did quite a bit in just 2 days!!!
the top 3 teams were
#3: Grief Puppy - A thoughtful gift for a child dealing with death for the first time or even a great soothing gift for an adult as well.
#2: Style Me - an App that helps you get dressed to go out and you can get feedback from your friends before you leave the house.
#1: Love Buzz - an App for dating that is not the typical online dating experience.

Overall I was really inspired by the presentations and pitches during the weekend. It is really true that you can do what ever idea you may have, if you just Start and DO IT! Even if you start off small and let your idea grow as you work on it, ANYTHING is possible!!
The Startup Weekend Team worked really hard, and I thought they put together a great event. I think it will be interesting to hear about the teams after the weekend and see their ideas and businesses develop. The Judges were pretty hard core, but were very honest. I would recommend this event to anyone who has an idea burning inside of them... Check it out!!!!
